SEASON 3

- With this version Season 3 begins. The top 50 players from the Season 2 Leaderboard have been added to the Season History Leaderboard.

GENERAL

Preloading

- All tower and creep models are now preloaded at the start of the game. This fixes a lag issue caused by certain models when they appear in the game for the first time during gameplay.

Note: The loading screen will be slightly longer because of this.

Game Pausing

- It's no longer possible to pause the game in Multiplayer.

Note: Reported issues said players crashed/desynced during pauses, so it's disabled until any known cause is found.

Damage Engine

- Fixed an issue that could cause "On Kill"-effects from tower abilities/creep traits to trigger even if the target was intended to survive the attack.

Note: This might've been the reason for the rare crashes suspected to be caused by the Gravedigger/Death Revenant combo, or other unknown combinations.

Game Mode Selection

- Added support for different Game Modes.

- At the start of the game a new window will appear with all present players and a designated player will be selected to select a Game Mode.

- The designated player will start from Player 1 (Red); but if this slot is empty the next following player will be selected instead.

- Three Game Modes will be supported to start with in this version: RANKED, UNRANKED and CASUAL.

- If no Game Mode is selected within a set time frame (60 seconds), the game will auto-select a Game Mode based of player count (>=7 players defaults to RANKED; else UNRANKED).

- It's possible to "Lock In" selected game mode and not wait for the above timer to end (this happens automatically when 5 seconds remain on the auto-start).

- RANKED

--- The default game mode that has been present with Line Tower Wars: Reforged from the beginning that you all have played and know, with rating and stat adjustments enabled.

- UNRANKED

--- The default game mode that has been present with Line Tower Wars: Reforged from the beginning that you all have played and know, but with rating and stat adjustments disabled.

- CASUAL

--- A new game mode aimed towards new players with easier gameplay mechanics for learning purposes.

- A descriptive text for each game mode appears on selection.

- This window also replaces the previous set up time that was previously present at the start of the game. Everything is instead loaded in the background during game mode selection.

- Players who leave the game during this time will not be counted as playing once the game starts and no penalty is applied.

- The starting lanes for all players are generated when the game starts; the player list in the game mode selection window is not the lane order, but player index order.

Note: Gameplay will for now only be balanced around the RANKED game mode.

Leaderboard

- The Leaderboard is now updated with a new look that displays player icons (selected skin), player name, player rating and 1st, 2nd and 3rd percentage wins.

- The Leaderboard can be minimized/maximized by clicking on the title area.

- The Leaderboard have been extended from 50 players to 100 players.

Note: Technically more players can be added with the new adjustments made for saving/loading (see below); but it would take a lot longer to save and load, so 100 players is a good starting point for now.

- The Leaderboard is now hidden for all game modes except for Ranked.

- The Leaderboard title text color is now the same as the scoreboard.

- Fixed an issue that caused the Leaderboard only to save 11 characters from the player name, instead of the maximum 12.

Scoreboard

- The scoreboard now displays the selected game mode in its title.

- The Rating column is now hidden for all game modes except for Ranked.

PLAYER STATS/SETTINGS

Player Rating

- Added a failsafe for possible stat corruption for players not yet in the leaderboard.

Note: If a player that's not in the leaderboard and can benefit from the stat restoration is detected as corrupted (i.e. rating reset to 0); the stats for this player will be reset to default values.

Stat Loading

- Some adjustment to the loading of stats have been made. It should now be safer and might resolve the disconnect/crash and stat reset issue; but the overall loading time is slightly slower at the start of the game.

Stat Saving

- Some adjustments to the saving of stats have been made. In order to save more data and reduce the amount of lag and stutter during the game the save is no longer instant which would cause the game to temporarily freeze.

Instead the save is slightly delayed over a duration with minimal impact (a very minor stutter may be felt).

Leaving the game while saving shouldn't cause any issues, but not all of the leaderboard data might be saved. Player Stats/Settings are saved instantly with no delay.

A notification text is present during saving to tell when it's done.

As mentioned, stats and settings are saved instantly. The leaderboard data takes roughly 1-2 seconds to save.

Player Model Size

- The value selected from the Skin Interface is now saved between games.

Player Wings

- Implemented the wings rewarded to the top 3 players in the recent tournament.

- Wings are no longer on by default and must manually be toggled on from the Skin Interface.

- The current on/off status of the wings is now saved between games.

Note: Known bug is that the checkbox will not be toggled on if the wings are loaded as on at the start of the game.

Research Center Hotkey Layout

- This setting is now saved between games.

Note: Known bug is that the checkbox will not be toggled on if the secondary hotkey layout is loaded at start of the game.

PLAYER SKINS

- New skins added to the Skin Interface:

- The "Night Elf Runner" skin now requires 10 games played, instead of 15.

- The "Mur'gul Cliffrunner" skin now requires 15 games played, instead of 35.

- The "Treant" skin now requires 25 games played, instead of 60.

- New Skin: Sorceress (requires 1750 rating).

- New Skin: Tuskarr Chieftain (requires 2250 rating).

- New Skin: Warden (requires 2750 rating).

- The "Peon" skin now requires 5 1st place wins, instead of 10.

- The "Naga Myrmidon" skin now requires 10 1st place wins, instead of 25.

- New Skin: Ghoul (requires 25 1st place wins).

- The "Brewmaster" skin now requires 75 1st place wins, instead of 100.

- New Skin: Demon Hunter (requires 100 1st place wins).

- New Skin: Clockwerk Goblin (secret requirement).

- New Skin: Flying Sheep (secret requirement).

- New Skin: Phantom (secret requirement).

- New Skin: Child (secret requirement).

- New Skin: Seal (secret requirement).

- New Skin: Marine (secret requirement).

Note: Skins can only be obtained in Ranked game mode and secret skin requirements are not anything that would disadvantage the players gameplay (i.e. lose on purpose, etc).

RESEARCH CENTER

Technology Refund

- It's no longer possible to refund technologies after any creeps are sent.

Note: This is in order to prevent storing gold in the Research Center by purchasing Technologies and then refunding to send more creeps.

COMMANDS

Camera Distance ("-cam x/-zoom x")

- Default value is now 2000, instead of 1650.

TOWERS

Elemental Core Reform

- Fixed a memory leak when reforming certain towers.

- Fixed an issue that could cause a reformed tower to be misplaced.

Note: A rare visual bug may occur where it appears the tower blocks the lane, but its actual collision is in the right place.

Tower Base Attack Speed Minimum Limit

- The default base attack speed for every tower is changed to not be below 0.33; this is a change in order to improve performance. The DPS is roughly the same for all changed towers (changes are listed individually for each tower below).

Note: Attack speed buffs, abilities, can still cause the tower to go below this limit, but it shouldn't occur as often as previously. One major culprit was the Ultimate Orb Keeper tower in late game.

Basic Tower Adjustments

- Most Basic Towers have been adjusted in gold cost and have been adjusted to the new cost (changes are listed individually for each tower below).

Note: This change is made as the gap between the 1,000 and 10,000 tower is very large early on and that the 30,000 tower shouldn't perform equal or in some cases better than the 30,000 technology towers as a player have to invest and risk something in order to access technology towers, but not basic.

The current status of the Basic Towers are months of constant buffs, inflating their damage to a level that contradicts their purpose as a "basic" lane support tower.

     The new costs are 10, 30, 150, 1,000, 5,000 and 25,000 gold (from 10, 30, 120, 1,000, 10,000, 30,000).

I've also had a look at the damage increase per upgrade; it's now more consistent and not all over the place as previously.

Every upgrade gets a damage increase based of a ratio compared to its gold cost. The ratio is decreased with each upgrade. The amount decreased is the same for all basic tower upgrades for their upgrade level.

The base starting ratio takes into account if the tower has splash or has a short ranged attack, i.e. short range = higher ratio = more base damage. Splash = lower ratio = less base damage.

Tower Tooltips

- Some tooltips with unnecessary long texts shortened.

- All tower tooltips that mentions Spell Damage now has the word highlighted in a light blue color.

- Updated the ability tooltips for all towers that have Spell Damage.

Elemental Core

- Maximum health changed from 75 to 100.

### Technology Discs ###

Technology Disc: Water

- Active: Water Technology now also increases mana regeneration of nearby friendly towers within a 300 radius by 0.5/sec.

- Attack Range ability will now show the mana regeneration aura radius instead of the whirlpool effect (the whirlpool is the same radius as the disc ground texture).

- All Technology Discs have recieved an upgrade.

- The model size of all non-upgraded Technology Discs slightly reduced in order to differentiate from their upgrade.

- The upgrade requires both "advanced" technologies researched for the disc technology type.

- The upgrade is expensive (250,000 gold) and gives a minor bonus compared to the cost; the upgrade is intended as a very slight advantage in the late game.

- The effects from upgraded Technology Discs don't stack with its non-upgraded form; the upgraded discs have buff priority.

- An upgraded disc can't be deactivated and must be sold in order to be replaced.

--- Advanced Earth Technology: Attack speed bonus is increased from 10% to 15%.

--- Advanced Holy Technology: Health regeneration bonus increased from 165% to 200%.

--- Advanced Lightning Technology: Damage returned changed from 300% to 350% and stun chance changed from 15% to 20%.

Lightshroom

- Now has a secondary attack with negative attack range and 0-0 damage.

Note: This is an ugly fix in order to make the AI auto-attack and not ignore this tower. The 2nd attack is unusable and doesn't appear to affect the tower in any way. I've done a lot of testing.

- Increased maximum mana from 0 to 100.

- Increased mana regeneration from 0 to 5.

- Rejuvenating Spores (1) slightly reworked:

Note: Stronger initial pushback; but now decays over time due to mana consumed. This change should encourage to spread out the shrooms over the lane and not have them all stacked up, so some of them can regen mana while others pushback.

Enchanted Lightshroom

- Now has a secondary attack with negative attack range and 0-0 damage.

Note: This is an ugly fix in order to make the AI auto-attack and not ignore this tower. The 2nd attack is unusable and doesn't appear to affect the tower in any way. I've done a lot of testing.

- Attacking creeps still have an income ratio reduction compared to other creeps, but it has been decreased.

- Invisible creeps no longer have an income ratio reduction compared to other creeps (only Voidwalker still had this).

Note: A player shouldn't be punished for utilizing specific creeps that are their opponents weakness.

Tier 3 adjustments

- Most creeps in Tier 3 have been adjusted in gold cost; their ratios (health, etc) remains mostly the same compared to their old costs.

Note: Even though the ratios are mostly the same with the new gold cost, this change will likely make Tier 3 more difficult due to stronger (but less) creeps at the same time frame as before and some other adjustments listed below.

Skeleton Warrior

- Maximum Health changed from 13 to 12.

- Replaced Sturdy Armor (1) trait with Death Pact (1):

--- Returns to life with 25% health after 1.5 second when killed. Can only trigger once.

Note: This new trait favors heavy splash damage so all the creeps can die and revive at the same time, at the same place.

SEASON

This version is part of Season 2.

GENERAL

Performance & Optimization

- Removed unused data and assets; reduced map file size (~90 kB) and might improve map loading time slightly.

- Replaced the old and built a new Dummy Recycler with bare minimum features for Line Tower Wars: Reforged in order to improve performance.

Note: Same reason as old Damage Engine was replaced in 4.2a; easier to maintain code from a system I made myself and no unnecessary features present in other systems.

Note: A future plan is to also add a recycler for summoned creeps; should increase performance as well due to a permanent memory leak caused by unit creation in the Warcraft 3 engine.

UI

Research Center

- Added a new checkbox option: "Flip Hotkeys". If enabled, the Technology hotkeys will be changed into a vertical grid, instead of horizontal (this option is currently not saved between games).

- There's no longer a cap of how many Technologies that can be refunded after one another (still disabled after first tower upgrade).

- The Ultimate Kirin Tor highlight now highlights the correct 4 required Technologies.

TOWERS

Attack Range Indicator

- Improved and optimized the indicator when displaying a towers attack range (and Magic Sentry range); no longer fades in and out and the indicator amount is no longer constant and adjusts based of range.

- Spellcast (1) fixed an issue that could cause Slow not to be applied properly.

Grand Archmage

- Spellcast (2) fixed an issue that could cause Slowmega not to be applied properly.

Ultimate Orb Keeper

- Greatly increased the performance vs Goblin Shredder with the Depth Current ability.

Note: An exception was previously made against this creep with the Orb Keeper Depth Current ability, this is no longer the case and damage reduction from the Reactive Armor trait is now included without any performance loss. This combination was one of the reasons the performance could be poor in the late game.

IMPORTANT NOTE

The crash issue related to being tabbed out during map load is still present.

SEASON

This version is part of Season 2.

GENERAL

Player Resources

- Players no longer start with 4 Research Points (lumber), because of the new Research Center (see below).

Note: Something else will replace the lumber value text at the top in the future. It's empty for now.

Scoreboard

- Fixed the display issue where the Rating row would be filled with the same value.

Sudden Death

- Player lives will now be set at 1 if they have less lives left than what was about to be removed.

New Damage Engine

- Built a Damage Engine from scratch with bare minimum features for Line Tower Wars: Reforged in order to improve performance.

Note: Initial tests are positive and it's a noticeable difference in frame rate compared to the old Damage Engine.

Tournament Reward

- The top 3 players from the most recent tournament won an in-game wing-attachment; these attachments have been implemented in this version.

- The wings can be toggled on/off from the new Skin Interface window (see below).

UI

Currently there's 4 different custom interfaces (2 new added with this version). Only one window can be open at the same time:

- Post Game Statistics Window

- Season History Window

- NEW: Research Center v2.0 (see below)

- NEW: Skin Window (see below)

Research Center v2.0

- The Research Center has been updated. It's now a standalone window with all Technologies available from a single view; no more pages to scroll through.

- Technologies no longer costs "Research Points" (lumber) in order to be researched. They cost Gold instead, which increases in cost the same way as it previously did (+50,000 Gold per purchase).

- Researching a Technology is now instant, no more research time delay.

- Researched Technologies are highlighted with a green checkmark.

- It's possible to revert the most recent technology researched and be refunded for the gold spent (in case of miss-click or change of mind).

- Tooltips are now more dynamic; they'll mention how many free researches available, requirements, if researched, etc.

- The Unit Group Control Bind-Key (CTRL + 1, 2, 3, etc) will no longer be reset as it happened previously due to page changes.

- Every Technology has a grid based hotkey (from top-left to bottom-right):

- It's possible to toggle and see all Ultimate Towers.

- The Ultimate Towers can be hovered or clicked on in order to highlight the required technologies.

- A temporary ability has been added to the Research Center that explains this new change.

- Close the window selecting any other unit or open another window overlapping the Research Center.

Research Center 2.0 Image

Skin Interface

- The skin selection has been reworked (previously accessed from the Builder via an ability).

- All skins now selectable from a single window.

- It's possible to adjust the size of the Builder (size not saved between games currently).

- If you've won a pair of Wings (from a Tournament for example); you can toggle their display on/off (toggle option not saved between games currently).

Note: If Wings are set to be ON by Default there's a known issue where the checkbox is deactivated in the Skin Menu. So in order to deactivate the Wings; you'll have to click the checkbox twice ("enable" then disable).

- The Skin interface can be opened from a button on the bottom-left of the screen, next to the Season History Leaderboard button.

Close the window with the same button or open another window overlapping the Skin Interface.

- Changing a Skin will now also update the Builder UI-icon to match chosen skin.

- Active: Earth Technology attack speed bonus changed from 12% to 10%.

Grinder

- Damage changed from 2-2 to 3-3.

Note: As no RNG should be present on damage numbers early game and all Cutter -> Mauler towers gets a decreased attack speed.

It's either -2 DPS with no damage change or +1 DPS with the damage change.

The reason for this change is to give them a slight disadvantage vs air, not allowing them to swap targets as quickly because they now hit for 1 less attack per second.

Carver

- Damage changed from 8-11 to 11-14.

- Attack Speed changed from 0.25 to 0.33.

Note: See Grinder change above; DPS remains roughly the same in this case from 38 DPS to 37.5 DPS.

SEASON

GENERAL

Game Lobby

- It's now possible to select race in the game lobby before game start. This will affect UI graphics and some sounds; default race is Human.

Note: Some sounds are hard coded and will not change; build sounds for example.

Game Start

- Slightly increased the setup duration in order to minimize the noticeable lag at the start (~5 seconds total now).

- Slightly optimized the code for loading player stats.

- Players can no longer load stats before the UI is initialized (should fix the display error for rating in the scoreboard).

- Players will now load their stats with a small delay between eachother.

- The Leaderboard should now be updated immediately when all players have loaded their stats.

- Increased start message duration and updated the text for the highest rated player announcement.

- Added a %-estimate of when the set up is complete (not 100% accurate, but should give a rough idea when the game is about to start).

Player Disconnects

- A player that disconnects during map loading or before the map set up will no longer be treated as an active player.

Note: This means that if a game starts with 7 players and 1 player disconnects; player stats will not be saved for that game.

Not confirmed: This might fix a crash related to trying to load stats from a disconnected player or code trying to set or access invalid data from an early disconnected player.

Sudden Death

- Will no longer start if the game has ended and will no longer be active if the game has ended.

Player Builder

- Turn Rate adjusted, so movement might feel a bit more fluid (the Builder will turn around faster).

TOWERS

Slow Effects

- The "slow" keyword has been altered (and colorized) in order to differentiate the different slows from which creeps they actually can affect.

- Towers that can slow the movement speed of all types of creeps retains the "slow" keyword in their tooltips.

- Towers that can't slow the movement speed of Spell Resistant creeps, the "slow" keyword has been replaced with "chills".

Note: As an example, all Ice Towers with on-hit slow will now say they "chills" movement speed of the creep instead, which means they can only affect NON-Spell Resistant creeps.

Keep in mind that chill and slow effects stacks with eachother and the cap is the highest percentage of any compatible attacking tower damaging the creep.

With this version Season 2 begins. The top 10 players from the Season 1 Leaderboard have been added to the Season History Leaderboard.

GENERAL

Player Amount

Note: The map could struggle with performance in some scenarios with a high player count, this limit will reduce the risk.โ€‹

Player Lane Adjustments

- The distance between player lanes increased.

Note: This change will improve the performance for players who play with a high camera zoom-level and might unintentionally see the graphical effects from another player's lane.โ€‹

- The lane positions have been adjusted and are now split in 3 rows, with 5 players each.

Note: This is to make sure the minimap isn't stretched and become oddly warped horizontally. The send order has been adjusted. Instead of going from bottom-left to top-right, it's now from top-left to bottom-right.
โ€‹

Post Game Statistics

- A new window that displays statistics from the game will now appear when a player is victorious for all active players.

- The window can manually be opened/closed by pressing "K".

- You can also close the window by pressing the Close-button in the top-left corner.

NOTE: The statistics are not updated in real-time in order to save on performance. The stats are only updated once the window is opened.โ€‹

- Fixed a rare bug that could allow a defeated player to steal lives.

- When a player is defeated, the grid is now properly destroyed and unnecessary data is cleared.

- It's possible to close the notification by clicking on the Discord icon on the left side of the text box.

PLAYER STATS & LEADERBOARD

- A player with Placement Games active will no longer be added to the Leaderboard if possible.

- The Leaderboard will now detect if a player has their rating out of sync with the current Leaderboard data, based on total games played.

Note: If the player has less games played than the Leaderboard data, the rating of the player will be restored to the Leaderboard rating data, as this is the most recent rating the player had; there's some protection against player disconnects.
Only player profiles currently recorded by other players can be checked (even though the Leaderboard can display up to 50 players, the amount of players could vary as all players may have different player profiles saved at the start of the game).โ€‹

- Players detected as disconnected will have their rating replaced with "DC" in the scoreboard.

- The Leaderboard window reworked. It's now a scrollable and smaller window.

- The Top 10 players are in a different color (1st, 2nd and 3rd has a unique color).

- Your own name is highlighted in the Leaderboard for yourself.

- Improvements have been made in order to prevent player data corruption.

- Added functionality to allow new data to be saved during a Season.

Note: This is more a developer tool if the community requests something new to be saved.โ€‹

- If a player ends up at second or third place in the game, these games will now be saved as a separate stat that can be checked via the "-stats" or Player Stats ability.

- The 1st, 2nd and 3rd win amount is now also displayed in %.

- Updated the tooltip of the "Player Stats"-ability in order to be up-to-date with recent changes.

- A player looking at their stats via the "Player Stats"-ability will no longer see their current rating if they still have active Placement Games.

- The amount of "losses" is removed from the Player Stats display; they're baked into "Games Played" and can easily be calculated if necessary.

SCOREBOARD/LEADERBOARD WINDOWS

- The scoreboard should now hug the right side of the screen with minimum margin.

- The Leaderboard should no longer be misaligned with the Scoreboard when playing in Fullscreen, using a common and supported Aspect Ratio.

Note: If the Aspect Ratio used isn't supported, the Leaderboard will default to a 16:9 aspect ratio in mind. The Aspect Ratio is detected at the start of the game and will not dynamically adjust if the screen size adjusts.โ€‹

COMMANDS

New Command: Grid Color (-gc red green blue alpha)

- With this command players can change the color of their grid. The color is saved between games.

Note: You must enter a value between 0 - 100 for each color. 0 alpha is no grid transparency, 50 alpha is 50% grid transparency, etc.
Example: "-gc 100 0 0 0" will make the grid color bright red.โ€‹

The grid color can be reset by only typing "-gc" with no color values. Default Color values are 85, 85, 85, 85.โ€‹

New Command: (UI) Button Toggle (-bt) (experimental)

- With this command you can hide/show the on-screen UI-buttons.

Note: You'll have to keybind the Creep Tier building and keep in mind that the keybind for the Research Center is reset every time you change a page, so you'll have to rebind it.

- Deadly Strike renamed to Lethal Strike and reworked:

Attacks have a chance based on the current %-health (100% - 0%) of the target creep to Critical Strike for 90% additional damage. The lower the health, the higher the chance to Critical Strike. The target will also be injected with a lethal poison for 3 seconds; dealing 170 damage per second and increasing the maximum cap of slow effects by 25% while the poison is active.

Note: This change will adjust scorpions to be an interesting mid-/back-line, dealing high single target burst damage to creeps with low current health. The additional slow cap could also help prevent leaking any creeps if the scorpions hold the back line with any slow assisting towers.
Even though the old movement speed slow (25%) from the poison were removed, this cap can potentially combine into a higher slow amount than previously:
Example: A creep with 500 movement speed.
New: Lich 60% ice slow + 25% scorpion slow cap = 85% = 75 movement speed
Old: Lich 60% ice slow = 200 movement speed; then + poison movement speed slow 30% = 140 movement speed.
The Scorpion (and others attacking the poisoned creep) will also benefit additionally from Ice Disc, which could be an interesting combination.โ€‹

The paralyze effect can only trigger once every 6 seconds on the same creep.
